A Contemporary Accounting Firm
Our mission is to help our clients achieve their long-term financial goals and peace of mind by providing comprehensive tax planning and compliance services, as well as retirement planning, estate planning, business start-up services, and consulting for affluent and emerging affluent individuals, business owners, retirees, businesses, estates and trusts.
Jay E. Troska, CPA, Ltd. (the "Firm") was formed on June 1, 1998. Our Firm specializes in comprehensive tax planning/compliance, estate planning, business start-up services, and management consulting services for individuals, businesses, estates and trusts.
Our Firm is solely owned by Jay E. Troska (see Owner's bio, below). As a small firm, our clients receive personalized service without the employee inefficiencies and staff turnover that are prevalent in larger firms. In addition, today's technology allows our Firm almost unlimited access to various research resources that used to be available to only the largest firms. This, combined with Mr. Troska's actual "Big Four" firm experience, allows our Firm to serve a vast array of clients. Most of our clients are located in the Las Vegas metropolitan area; however, our Firm also serves clients throughout the United States, and we have clients who live and work overseas.
Jay Troska's professional experience goes back to 1985. His work experience includes four years in Minneapolis with the then "Big Eight" firm of Touche Ross & Co. (now the "Big Four" firm of Deloitte) and over eight years with the Las Vegas office of Kafoury, Armstrong & Co. (later acquired by Eide Bailly LLP). He has acquired extensive experience in tax planning and tax compliance for individuals, "C" and "S" corporations, general and limited partnerships, limited liability companies, trusts, estates, employee benefit plans, and non-profit organizations.
Jay earned his Bachelor's degree from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN. He passed the national CPA examination on his first attempt in 1988, and he later earned his Master of Science in Taxation (MST) degree from William Howard Taft University (Santa Ana, CA), graduating Magna Cum Laude. He holds CPA licenses in Nevada (active) and Minnesota (inactive), and he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He fulfills his annual continuing education requirements primarily through courses sponsored by the AICPA.
Jay also holds the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential awarded by the AICPA. The PFS credential is awarded to CPAs who have met extensive work experience and education requirements in the various areas of financial planning and have passed one of several qualifying examinations. PFS professionals must also fulfill continuing education requirements and abide by strict professional and ethical standards. Thus, the PFS program enhances a CPA's ability to provide estate, tax, retirement, and risk management advice. Unlike other financial planning credentials, the PFS credential is granted only to CPAs who are members of the AICPA. Only approximately 1% of all AICPA members hold the PFS credential.
